librarianship philosophy

I am a fierce believer in the power of strong, consistent branding and dynamic storytelling to serve library users at the College of Veterinary Medicine and promote the work of Flower-Sprecher Veterinary Library.

I earned my MLIS from Syracuse University in September of 2018 and my MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Washington in 2010. Through my background in creative writing, graphic design, and librarianship, I work to bring the library's services, resources, and expertise to CVM members both inside and outside the library's walls. I'm proud to create engaging outreach events and materials that inform CVM members of how the library can support their scholarly work. I also strive to support the library's ongoing assessment efforts by contributing a user-centered, outcomes-based approach.

As a leader at the intersection of academic librarianship and wellbeing, the library plays a vital role in supporting the scholarly work of CVM community members as well as CVM wellness initiatives. The renovation of the veterinary library and the larger CVM complex has given us unique momentum and renewed attention from the greater campus community to promote library services, resources, and expertise.

Flower-Sprecher Veterinary Library provides the CVM community with a creative, welcoming space to study and a diverse set of tools to pursue their work as scholars, veterinarians, and human beings.

As the library's Instruction and Outreach Support Specialist, I aim to spread the word.
